I.1 Procedure

W embedding is to embed the MC events generated by PYTHIA into the zero-bias events with full TPC adc readout.  In order to account for the effects of the pile-up, the zero-bias events are picked out run by run depending on their integral luminosity contributions.   

 
1. ZB events selection
The embedding statistics are determined from the luminosity of data. Usually, the MC luminosity is required to have one order greater of magnitude than the data, to get a good simulation shape.  From the cross section and luminosity, we can calculate the event size of the embedding samples, and then distribute them to each run according to their luminosity weights. 
 
2. download the ZB daq files from HPSS
For each run, pick out one(maybe more) daq file(s) satisfies the requirement. And then, make a file list which contains the ZB daq file names with full paths on HPSS and local.  Request downloading by using command hpss_user.pl -f xxx.list. The daq files are usually temporarily stored in /star/data03/. After that, move them to /star/data19/ or /star/data18/ which can be used for a longer while. So far, the ZB daq files are ready to be downloaded.  
 
3. Run the embedding macros to produce the embedding sample
3.1 Prepare the vertex information. Generate Gaussian random based on the pre-set vertex parameters, the offset and the width. 
3.2 run kumac file in "starsim" to generate the Pythia events for different channels. We will get the fzd files which contains the Pythia events information. 
3.3 Run the bfcMixer_pythia.C in "root4star" to embed the Pythia events into the ZB events.  We will get the produced embedding sampel, the muDst files, as well some other relevant files.
