Number of raw strips (estimation) before and after pedestal&noise substraction
Estimation of the number of strips fired (before and after pedestal&noise substraction) in Simulation
I generate 20 events for each file with a number of pions in a given pt,phi, rapidity range.
The kumac is :
detp geom y2006b
make geometry
gclose all
debug on
user/vsig 0 20
gkine 20 8 0.1 5.0 -1.0 1.0 -3.1415 3.1415 -30 30
trig 20
The number of pions goes from 50 to 800 pions /event.
The following plot show the number of strips before (red) and after pedestal substraction (blue)
- 50 pions per event
- 100 pions per event
- 300 pions per event
- 500 pions per event
- 800 pions per event
Each GEANT hit can induce signal on 4 consecutives strips.
Then for 800 pions, it gives # strips = 800 * 4 *2 (side P and N) = 6400
This result in agreement with the red histos (figure above)
A rough estimation of the ratio (#strips after ped & noise susbtraction)/(#strips before) = 1/3
