Y Splitter Reinforcement Ideas

The EPD fiber optic bundles each branch from a single, large bundle (which connects at the outside of an EPD supersector) to two smaller bundles that feed into the FEE boxes. At the branch, the fibers travel through a so-called "Y splitter", which was unfortunately 3D printed. They are fairly weak and are starting to break already just from the cable movement involved in putting up and taking down the EPD.

We want to reinforce them and I think the simplest way to effectively do this is to just use aluminum plates of rough dimensions 1.5 mm x 60 mm x 120 mm and drill 6 holes of rough diameter 5 mm through which we feed cable ties that would hold the Y splitter to the aluminum plate (take a look at the sketch). We could trim the plate to conform a bit to the shape of the Y splitter, but that is unnecessary. We would need to make 24 such plates.
