Abstract

We want to see if the large A_N we observe in the ZDC at 500 GeV has any correlation with how "busy" the central event is.

Correlation with BBC

Unfortunately there were not many runs taken were a BBC coincidence was not required, so it was difficult to get a sample that I could divide into "zdc+bbc same side", "zdc+bbc opposite side", "zdc+bbc min bias."  I didn't see any signifcant differences between these conditions

Correlation with Barrel Jet Patch

Next I looked at the barrel jet patch bit in the last DSM.  Divided events between bit 0 or 1.

First class of events: jet patch bit is 0

Second class of events: jet patch bit is 1.

Summary

I see a drop in analyzing power when the barrel jet patch bit is true for the yellow and blue beams, but from this plot it's more convincing for yellow.  Just the L/R asymmetries show a similar trend.  Will investigate adding more stats.

Next Step

Try to correlate with the endcap jet patch trigger bit.
