The cumulants and their ratios are related to the thermodynamic susceptibilities which can also be obtained from lattice QCD calculations. Furthermore, proton factorial cumulants are also suggested to carry signals of first order phase
transition between hadronic phase and the QGP, where the proton distributions are expected to become bimodal.
