Update 01.17.2018 -- Run 9 Embedding: BEMC Tower E/p
Presented below is the E/p distributions for BEMC towers in run 9 data and the run 9 dijet embedding sample. As a reminder, the run 9 data are from the 'L2gamma' stream. While the run 9 embedding sample consists of 2-to-2 hard QCD events from Pythia embedded into zero-bias run 9 data. I extracted the E/p in two ways: method 1 requires tracks to satisfy
- Nfit > 15
- Nfit/Nposs > 0.52
- dca (global) < 1 cm
- |eta| < 1
- p > 2 GeV/c
and electrons are selected by requiring dE/dx = (3.4, 5) KeV/cm. All tracks which pass the track requirements but don't fall into the electrons' dE/dx range are defined to be hadrons. The towers used in the calculation are required to have exactly 1 track pointing to the tower. However, the data used satisfy the minimum requirements of the clustering algorithm we use to identify pi0.
In method 2, tracks are required to satisfy:
- Nfit > 15
- Nfit/Nposs > 0.52
- dca (global) < 1 cm
- |eta| < 1
- pT > 0.2 GeV/c
and electrons are defined to be a track with |nSigmaE| < 3 and |nSigmaH| > 3 (where the 'E' indicates electron and the 'H' indicates pion, kaon, or proton). Hadrons are then any tracks passing the requirements and have |nSigmaE| > 3 and |nSigmaH| < 3. There are no requirements on the number of tracks pointing to the tower used in the calculation, but there are no (additional) trigger conditions applied to the data or embedding.
