NPE analysis, size estimates

The current task force request is a bit vague i.e.

we would like to have the 2003/2004
p-p productions on disk as well as the embedding datasets
used for that analysis.

Question asked were which production? which embedding serie? Who has done that analysis?

The information gathered (help from Andrew Rose for the embedding) was:

Embedding files:

  • Each file set is ~12GB (+/- 20%)
    • Pi0 filesets: 435
    • Electron filesets: 185
  • Total: ~6TB.

The files are named "flatpt", "dalitz",  "EMC" and "heavy". The exact set was asked to the NPE task force POC on 6/4/2009. No informaton was provided and a contact name was requested instead.

As far as real data goes, here is a snapshot

Year3 real data, assuming event.root  and p+p 200 GeV

Assuming MuDST, we would get a more reasonable size i.e.

  • P03ih::678984254894  ~ 0.6 TB

With Year4 data, the picture would be only a selection of two production series mainly:

NO idea on what production was used for the NPE analysis and would require more information (productionversion and files used for the analysis i.e. event or MuDST?).

Overall, t he total space restorewould be ~ 11 TB for real data and 6 TB for emebding and without precision, the 17 TB potential would have a significant impact on other analysis.
