J/pis in Cu+Cu 200 GeV - the high pT contribution to dN/dy
Problem: only limited pT range is accessible in Cu+Cu min-bias data (up to 5Gev/c). What is the contribution of high-pT J/psi's (beyond measured range) to total dN/dy?
Method: the dN/dpT = A*[(pT/B)2]C function was fitted to PHENIX J/ψ invariant pT spectrum in Cu+Cu 0-20% and 0-60% central events. Then dN/dpT = A*pT*[(pT/B)2]C function (with parameters from fit to PHENIX results) was used to calculate the contribution of high-pT particles to total yield.
Results:
If one neglects the contribution of high-pT J/psi's (pT>5GeV/c), the systematic error will be ~ 2%
(∞ was set to 1000 GeV/c in this exercise.)
