Minutes for HF PWG meeting on 2015/12/3
Hao: D0 v2{event plane} in Au+Au 200 GeV run 14
- full data set analyzed
- additional systematic error checks
- syst. error - the largest deviation taken, then symmetrizing, this could lead to syst. error overestimation, if error goes only in one direction (for example, in the bin of 1-2 GeV/c)
Xin commented, that side-band could not work since the BG is not linear at low pT.
- should use mean value and then symmetric uncertainties? Hoa prefers "fit" as a central value because this method has the smallest stat. error.
- should we use an envelope for syst. errors or convert them to the standard deviation? It's up to PAs, both methods work if there is a clear statement in the text which one is used.
- timeline: we wait till Friday evening (PST) for comments, if not major issues, then we request PWGC preview
Liang: updated v2{2 part corr}
- stat. error was underestimated in the previous approach because histogram was filled too many times, should be correct now.
- however, this change in the stat error for cumulates does not show up in the D0 v2. Maybe because final v2 is a convolution of many contributions/factors, and stat. error on the cumulant histogram is not directly translated to he stat. error on v2? At the end, a mean value of cumulate is taken to the calculation, so maybe the difference is not so large.
Suugestion: pick one pT bin and make a slide with all the numbers which enter the v2 calculation to make sure that we understand how this new method change the v2 (if at all)
- slide 2 and 3 - these are two different distributions: v2 and V2(pair v2), suggestion: add slides with apple-to-apple comparisons.
