Bad tower map for AuAu_200_production_2016

To create a map of bad BEMC towers, one has to define a few values:
- Tower firing (nHits):
If the measured transverse energy ET > 0.2 GeV. - Dead tower (⟨nHits⟩ < 2 %):
If the mean value (divided by the number of events) of the nHits for the particular tower is less than 2 % of the mean value of the nHits for all towers (μ). - Hot tower (⟨nHits⟩ > 40 %):
If the mean value of the nHits for the particular tower is greater than 40 % of the mean value of the nHits for all towers (μ). - 3σ tower (|⟨nHits⟩-μ|>3σ):
If the mean value of the nHits for the particular tower is greater or less than 3σ from the mean value of the nHits for all towers (μ). - Tower mean energy (⟨E⟩≡ ΣE/nHits):
The mean energy of the particular tower is defined as a sum of all energies when the tower is firing divided by the related number nHits. - 3σE tower (|⟨E⟩-μ⟨E⟩|>3σ⟨E⟩):
If the tower mean energy of the particular tower ⟨E⟩ is greater or less than 3σ from the mean energy for all towers (μ⟨E⟩).
I assume the uniform distribution of all particles into towers even though it is not obviously true, however, it should be ok in this case.
This bad tower mapping was done for all available runs from 17038047 to 17179012 including triggers:
- VPDMB-5-p-sst (520001, 520011, 520021, 520031, 520041, 520051)
- VPDMB-5-nosst (570001, 570002)
- BHT1*VPDMB-10 (520201, 520211, 520221, 520231, 520241, 520251, 520261)
- BHT3 (520203)
- central-5 (520101, 520111, 520121, 520131, 520141)
- VPDMB-10 (520007, 520017, 520027, 520037)
- VPDMB-5 (520003, 520013, 520023, 520033, 520043)
- VPDMB-5-p-hlt (520802, 520812, 520822, 520832, 520842)
- VPDMB-5-p-nosst (520002, 520012, 520022, 520032, 520042)
See below an example of finding dead towers, hot towers, 3σ towers and 3σE towers:
- Dead towers (blue, < 0.02) are excluded
- Hot towers (red, > 0.4) are excluded
- The mean value μ is calculated from the remaining towers
- 3σ towers (green, |⟨nHits⟩-μ|>3σ) are excluded
- The mean energy value μ⟨E⟩ is calculated from the remaining towers
- 3σE towers (green, |⟨E⟩-μ⟨E⟩|>3σ⟨E⟩) are excluded
- All excluded towers are labeled as bad towers with respect to the particular runID
After this process, one gets number of bad towers depending on runID, see below
Next, one decides between quality and quantity. Runs including a certain number (the decision is up to us) of dead, hot, 3σ, and 3σE towers are excluded and labeled as bad runs. The current chosen thresholds are
- >235 dead towers
- >5 hot towers
- >75 3σ towers
- >20 3σE towers
The map of all good towers with respect to the runID is depicted below (+1 good tower, -1 bad tower, 0 no information):
The map after excluding all bad runs according to the aforementioned thresholds is presented below:
A bad tower is one that is dead, hot, 3σ or 3σE in more than one runID. If a tower is bad in one case, this runID is excluded as well.
