Preparation for EPD commissioning

We have to do three test. Here you can find the short instructions for the EPD commissioning 2025:

I) Timing Scan:

1. Connect with Control Room: zoom link
2. Ask shift leader to:
    - Copy Configuration
    - Go to: Edit Configuration -> next to the Trigger Configuration click "Detail" -> Labels (on the left) -> click button on the bottom "EPD"
    - you should see:

3. Open table for scan: link
row STAR correspond to the STAR of the given gate. We will do all the Starts the same in the given run, just change the STOP.
The order in the given run column correspond to the table Shift Leader has. Now, we will run column by column. Please be sure all the labels are correctly changed! We only change them in "value" column.

4. Running:
- We take 100k events
- TRG+DAQ, check what triggers are included, anything BUT edp (no epd)
Remember: write down the run number in row 36 in the google sheet!

5. Processing:
- Get into "agent sh" shell:
ssh -A -Y you@rssh.rhic.bnl.gov (ssh -A -Y mstefaniak@ssh.sdcc.bnl.gov)
ssh -t -A -Y stargw.starp.bnl.gov
rterm -i
stardev
cd /star/u/mstefaniak/2025
cons
bash runEpdTrgHist2025.sh X Y Z

X = day (3 digits), Y = run (3 digits), Z = number of indices ( >= 1 digit) (10k events per index)
go to folder XY check if root files are created. for example: epdhist.26080027.1.root
hadd them and run:
root4star -q -b 'map_EpdHistos.C("epdhist.WXY.root")'

when done:
sftp mstefaniak@sftp.sdcc.bnl.gov
put mapped_epdhist.XXX.root
this will move the root file to your "normal" folder. Move root files to: /star/u/mstefaniak/EPD/2025/TimingScanJune
Mike will do the next steps.

II) Bias Scan:

Based on: link
1. Edit configurations:
ssh -A -Y mstefaniak@ssh.sdcc.bnl.gov
ssh -t -A -Y stargw.starp.bnl.gov
ssh evpops@daqman
cd /RTS/conf/epd/
copy the present EPD_TUFFmap.txt with today's date
No we will be uploading different configurations, general change is "vset"
all the files are created here: /RTS/conf/epd/VbiasScan2025/

2. Take runs 100k events TRG+DAQ
3. Switch back to the default EPD_TUFFmap.txt!

4. Maria gets files in the similar way as in Timing Scan.
5. Move them to directory: /star/u/mstefaniak/EPD/2025/VbiasScanJune
