Run 15 BEMC Calibration: Systematics Studies
Some updates from yesterday's meeting.
Elke mentioned I should investigate the DeltaR cut by extending the studied region out to the edges of the tower. I have three different files showing the results of this study.
The first one to look at is DeltaR2D.png. This is a 2D histogram showing the E/p value of tracks in DeltaR bins (from 0 to 0.35). You can see the rise in E/p as the tracks start passing through the corners of the tower (DeltaR > 0.25), which is likely due to the extrapolation of the fits used to correct the energy.
A plot of the fitted means for this can be seen in DeltaR_SlicesStudy.pdf. The plot of the fitted means is on the last page, the preceding pages show the distributions and the fits from which the means are calculated. You can see that at high DeltaR values the fits become poorer.
A plot created by varying the cut (similar to the process used for the calculation of the systematic) can be seen in DeltaRPlot.png. This is different from DeltaR_SlicesStudy.pdf because to generate this plot the cut was varied, so the high DeltaR points are fits to all tracks that pass within that large DeltaR value.
I also remade calibration trees from the 2012 pp500 embedding, this time I included more pythia information. I made comparisons between the momentum and energy from pythia to the reconstructed values. These comparisons can be seen in EMC2_July9_Update.pdf.
UPDATE:
I made some histograms investigating the uncorrected tower energy over track momentum vs DeltaR for each pair of rings at the same value of |eta|.
These histograms can be seen in DeltaRStudyOutput.pdf.
Each page has 5 histograms. The top is the the full histogram. The bottom 4 are binned in momentum (first three bins are 1 GeV wide, and the last is an overflow bin).
