K+K- IFF Asymmetry Projection for Run 2024
Dikaon asymmetry analysis is targeted for the Run 15 and Run 24 datasets combined. The run 24 will be the largest polarized dataset with the projected integrated luminosity of ~ 100 - 250 pb^-1 relative to 52 pb^-1 in run 15.
For the projection, kaons are selected by applying more stringent selection cuts using only the tracks that has both TOF and TPC information, otherwise kaon selection would be very difficult, specifically in the higher momentum region. Considering a lower kaon production rate, different set of track quality cuts are applied than the pion IFF analysis.
Selection cuts:
Event and track selection:
|Vz|<60 cm, Vrank>1e6, |eta|<1, 0.2<pt<20, nHitsFit>15, nHitsFit/nHitsFitPoss>0.51, pt dependence dca cut, track should have both TPC and TOF information.
Kaon selection:
-1<nSigmaPion(TPC)<2 && -2<nSigmaKaon(TOF)<2 && nSigmaKaon(TPC)<polynominal cut && m^2>0.18 && m^2<0.32
About 99% high purity kaon tracks are obtained ( see kaon fit, which is the m^2 distribution for the signal after nSigma cuts. Additional m^2 cut is applied to calculate asymmetry).
Asymmetry is calculated for the eta>0 and eta<0 bins, and as a function of invariant mass. Asymmetry result is statistically limited, especially in the higher mass region.
Statistical uncertainty projection and all kinematics are listed in this text file .
