absolute cross section notes 2
Regarding vernier scan data: Bill has informed me that Angelika is not at BNL. I have not received the data, but this isn't surprising. I'm avoiding piling emails into her inbox when she's physically not around to receive them, but will send an email to Bill to see if he knows when she gets back.
Regarding other constants: I can get Nb and Ny from cdev. Presumable Kb as well. Frev is constant, though I'm not sure where to get the 'official' value.
Jan has encouraged me to find the people responsible for the paper found at http://lss.fnal.gov/archive/proceedings/PAPERS/RPAH116.PDF . This is Angelika Drees, who is no at BNL at the moment, and Zhangbu Xu. I will contact the latter to see if he has the data needed to repeat the measurements of the beam reported in the paper.
Jan has pointed out http://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/Picture+22_6.png , which shows a screen capture of the trigger rates for the vernier scan run, verifying that a single run spans all the steps. This run will need to be produced.
Once we know the absolute cross section, the W cross section should be sigma_W=N_W/N_bht3*sigma_bht3. I've left out corrections due to hot towers.
