Mapping EPD 11/26/2022

Executive Summary
The EPD is not yet mapped.  The 4th crate seems to be running, but it isn't showing up on the VME GUI.  The back of the QTs (i.e connection to the DSMs) have not been recabled.  The east side is on with very high current, the west side seems to not be on - this is because the SiPMs are not installed on the west side as we took the optical fibers down.   Hsi doesn't seem to see starsink and FOlocate doesn't seem to find the files either, however the file structure is unchanged.  The only way to move files from the stargw is using email (afaik).

Details
A forth crate (EQ4) was installed in order to help with the increased data taking rate.  We also wanted to split each crate East vs West, with the idea being that the West Side EPD could be read out via the DEP boards installed for the forward upgrade.  Some details can be found at: drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/rjreed/EPD-Run-23-configuration
Our first attempt to check the mapping can be found at: drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/rjreed/Mapping-EPD-09152022
This also has the mapping file attached, which is what was used to upload to the db.

This time I ran the EPD remotely, with instructions at: drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/blog/rjreed/Running-EPD-Remotely

For each crate, slots 0,2,4,6 correspond to the East side and slots 8,10,12,14 correspond to the West side.

Run Numbers
All runs were done with: L0,L1,TCD,BBC,STP2,L1_DSM2,BBC_DSM2,EVP,EVB, EQ1-4, EQ1-4_QTD

NOTE: We changed the Patterns so that they have zero bias voltage, as the dark current from the SiPMs is high enough that it really messes with the pedestals!

The dark current makes the pedestals in the default configuration look crazy.  The "zeros" file has very low vped values in order to zero everything out and give the maximum range for the patterns, so it doesn't really let us see if things look normally.  I would want to run a file with the normal vpeds but bias = 0, but have not been able to do so just yet.

Next Run Numbers - EQ 4 may be off
Run 23334013 - pedestal_rhicclock_clean trg+daq
L0,L1,TCD,BBC,STP2,L1_DSM2,BBC_DSM2,EVP,EVB, EQ1-4, EQ1-4_QTD
It is unclear whether EQ4 is on or not. The crate shows off, but no complaints from Run Control.

Run 23334019 - Pedestal_Rhicclock_Clean trg+daq
Return to default.

I realized that pedestal subtraction wasn't happening, and it turns out that EQ1 was reading EQ2 pedestals.  The Tier1 file was changed and fixed this, so I will start a new blog.
