To unfold or not

This blog checks the ratio of unfolded to not unfolded counts and plots the cross section without unfolding.

Ratio

To check how the unfolding may effect the overall normalization, here is the plot of unfolded counts, divided by unfolded counts, using the same data as cross section plot which was also posted today.

This does not account (fully) for the factor of 0.35 between cross section for data over theory. Note, the total number of counts are

Not unfolded 6.90e+04
Unfolded: 5.99e+04

So the unfolding reduces the statistics in these bins by 0.867.  This may be reasonable, since some pi0s with pT < 6 GeV are reconstruced in the higher pT bins due to pT resolution.

Cross Section without Unfolding

The agreement with theory is slightly better without unfolding.
