IFF @ 500 GeV Trigger Bias Studies: quark/gluon ratio
1. From unfiltered embedding files, find outgoing parton closest to charged pion pair.
2. Get unbiased ratio: Calculate the ratio (# of quarks)/(# of gluons) for all events.
3. Get triggered ratio: For each trigger, calculate the ratio (# of quarks)/(# of gluons).
4. (triggered ratio)/(unbiased ratio) is plotted below for 8 triggers. (see plots after Fig. 2)
5. Take the weighted average of all triggers to get r = (quark/gluon_triggered)/(quark/gluon_unbiased). This is Fig. 1.
6. Estimated corrected asymmetry is (r-1)*Asymmetry. Figure 2 shows error bars representing this estimated correction.
Figure 1: weighted average of (quark/gluon_triggered)/(quark/gluon_unbiased) vs. pT bin
Figure 2: The asymmetry as a function of pT where the error bars represent the estimated triggered bias correction. Statistical uncertainty is not included here.
Figures 3-10: quark/gluon ratio for 8 triggers
