Gated Grid Driver/ Controller (GGDII)

 
New Gated Grid Driver System (GGDII) "Triode Mode Amplifier"

Initial testing in FY15 (2015). Testing during run 16 was determined SAT.

Full system install will be held off until RUN 18.

Key Design Specifications:

- Improved speed: 1.4us settling time with maximum 10kHz switching rate
- Installed in 9U crate housing with no special modifications to crate.
- Incorporated card controller and driver with VME bus slave connectivity. (system is now installed in single crate)
- Monitoring of output voltages for Grid- and Grid+
- Single DC/DC common bus power supply
- Digital control of output voltage levels
- Incorporated LEMO twinax PCB intreconnect to TPC grid (Located at P3 VME user connection), doing away with "pigtail connections".

- Advanced self calibration from software controls 
- Greatly minimized output signal adjustments and improved issues with older system of "drifting" settings.
- New system uses 2 POT's per port to adjust wave delay/ symmetry. (Old system used 12 adjustments, analog POT's per port)
- Reduced circuit complexity (Half-Bridge FET driver)
