HF PWG Meeting Minutes by Zhenyu - 2015/04/09
1) NPE low-pT in p+p 200 GeV run 12 - Shenghui
Shenghui presented the updates on NPE low-pT in p+p 200 GeV data anlysis with Run12 data.
Q: what is the cut on nsigma_dEdx^electron to select inclusive electrons
Q: purity fit results from Shenghui and Xiaozhi should be the same (if Shenghui applied -1<nSigma<3 cut). The two should compare the results and resolve any difference. There should be contaminations from kaons and protons around ~0.5 and 1 GeV/c. Need to estimate their contributions.
Q: bin width of 0.02 used to draw and fit the 1/beta distribution is too large compared to cuts +/-0.03. Remake the plots and fits with smaller bin width.
Q: Different tracking efficiency between Shenghui and Xiaozhi's results, with the same cuts and embedding sample. Need to resolve the difference. Also the shape of the tracking efficiency (i.e. bump at 0.5 GeV/c from Shenghui, or dip at 1 GeV/c from Xiaozhi) need to be confirmed.
Q: tracking effiency is extracted as a funciton of MC track pT. need to correct for pT smearing effect
Q: explain in details how the pT spectra of gamma conversion, pion0 and eta dalitz decays are obtained, and how their weights are calculated
Q: low pT NPE after PHE correction is systematically deviating from FONLL and PHENIX results. Underestimated PHE contribution? Other background contribution?
Q for Olga: why the first two low pT points are missing, why statistical uncertainy in Run09 seem to be better than run12, which is opposite from expectation that Run12 has a factor of two more MB events than run09.
2) Update on J/psi in BES paper status - Wangmei
Wangmei reported on the updates for J/psi in BES paper. Answers to PWGC review comments are written in a document. Plots and analysis note are updated.
Q: A question asked on Figure 2 during PAC review, to better check the statistical fluctuation of InvMass spectra after background subtraction, it was suggested to plot (data-0)/uncertainty
Q: Wangmei asked whether he should keep the published high pT data points for 200 GeV in Figure 2 and 4. Recommedation from PWG is yes
Q: Daniel suggested Wangmei to calculate the significance of the difference between STAR results and NA50 17.2 GeV results (with similar N_part as STAR). Maybe there is some physics message there.
Q: pT and centrality range of the pT-integrated RAA from SPS in Figure 4 left panel
3) B->J/psi projection for BUR16/17 - Bingchu
Bingchu presented the projeciton for B->J/psi measurements with the expected run 14-16 p+p and Au+Au data, as well as those with additional 8 weeks of p+p run in Run17. Daniel will forward the slides to BUR committee for discussions.
Q: MTD+HFT and HT+HFT should be able to sample the full lumi. Understand why in Run14 MTD+HFT sampled 0.25 nb-1 while HT+HFT 0.45 nb-1.
Q: clarify quantitately how much RAA uncertainty is from pp and how much from AuAu
Q: 8 weeks -> 8+ weeks
Q: 2.5 nb-1 -> 2 nb-1
4) D analysis with HFT in Au+Au 200 GeV run 14 - Long
Long presented reconstructed D0 signals with a small fraction of Run14 Au+Au data.
Q: pT and PID cuts need and will be optimized
5) How to run simulations with HF particles embedded in a hijing background - Michael
