FST Weekly Meeting: Jan. 13, 2020 9:30

Time: Jan. 13, 2020  9:30 am EST

Suggested items:
   1. Yi/Han-Sheng: mechanical structure
       >> The new soft tube is received, and NCKU is preparing the "3M test" setup using Soxhlet extraction method.
       >> The new hybrids are sent to company to mount components.
       >> AIDC is gluing the new inner and outer wedge together (pure PEEK).
       >> Easton is still working on improving the flatness.

   2. Mike: status of the v3 T-board and new inner signal cables
       >> Everything is on track.
   3. Zhenyu/Xu: status of the preparation for module assembly at Fermilab
       >> Need to check the status with Fermilab this week.
   4. Te-Chuan/Flemming: FST Geant model
       >> Flemming:  Jason is looking into the some time issue when creting/compiling issue with the agml. I have made a few changes, but overall it looks good.

   5. Krishan/Daniel: new tracking code
       >> Successfully installed the new tracking software and will start to learn how to run some samples.
   6. Flemming: feasibility to do the irradiation tests at BNL for the cooling soft tubes and other components.
       >> No update.
   7. All: prototype in Run-20
What can be learned specifically by in-beam measurements?
       >> Zhenyu will ask Gerard about the point of view from DAQ.
       >> Hi Zhenyu,
Yes I will do some further firmware work, but I think it has no impact on the prototyping either cosmics or in STAR, and nothing needed as far as test data to inform the firmware work. The systems are alrady ready enough to run I believe.
Mainly I need to clean up some loose ends from IST, the controls for timing and, hopefully, for NTIMBINS, can be improved, and perhaps some rate improvements, perhaps some bugs still to resolve. I'll get after this work later this summer, I expect.
BTW all the ARC-II & ARM modules that we would need for a test run at STAR are already installed in the racks. I do not know about the ISEG PS modules for bias, I don't remember if they are there or elsewhere e.g. in Prithwish's lab. We should use those to run at STAR, if they will be the plan for final FST.

What is needed for such setup?
       >> The gray cable from IST is the key component.
What resources (people, material, time) is needed to set this up?
       >> TBD.
What resources will be available to digest the data taking in such setup?
       >> TBD.
What can be learned over and above checking the prototypes in the lab setup’s at UIC and BNL?
       >> Need to check with Prithwish which DAQ is using for the cosmic test now.
What might be learned that could lead to changes for the final setup?

 >> TBD.

   8. All: required documents
       >> Yi will provide the updated version of the document for the mechanical structure.
       >> Zhenyu will provide the documents for the silicon sensor and assembly procedures.
       >> Zhenyu/Flemming/Yi will put everything together.
