Abstract | : | The installation of the End--cap Electromagnetic Calorimeter ( EEMC ) would significantly increase the physics capabilities of the STAR detector to study spin--dependent processes. In this paper, the first results of software simulations for EEMC are presented. A geometrical description of the EEMC, and some simple hints of how to extract the EEMC information in GEANT, are explained. The basic characteristics of the EEMC, such as the resolution and energy losses due to cracks and inefficient regions, were studied. The possible influence of extra material (TPC Wheel) on the EEMC response was simulated, and some suggestions for the EEMC design are offered. |
