Abstract | : | The End--cap Electromagnetic Calorimeter ( EEMC ) would significantly increase the physics capabilities of the STAR detector to study spin--dependent processes and to search for QGP signals. In this paper, the mechanical engineering design of the EEMC, proposed by the Particle Physics Laboratory, is presented. The design of structural elements of the EEMC, its support frame and its optical system are described in details. The results of stresses and deformations analysis are also presented. The EEMC mounting scheme and assembling procedure are discussed. The proposed engineering design of the EEMC is illustrated by the set of detailed drawings. |
