| Abstract | : | We have studied several wire and pad configurations for the STAR TPC. The results of these studies were used in the choice of configuration for the STAR TPC inner sectors and provide useful performance characteristics for the STAR TPC, such as gains, pad response functions, pad signal amplitudes and stability characteristics. Most measurements were done on small hand-built wire chambers, while calculations include results from GARFIELD and approximate results from derived formulas. |
