Abstract | : | We propose to install the RICH module, which was developed and tested for the ALICE/CERN experiment, in the STAR experimental setup at mid-rapidity to provide high transverse momentum particle identification. The RICH detector will allow pion and kaon identification up to ~3.0 GeV/c and proton identification up to ~5.0 GeV/c and therefore extends studies of particle identified spectra to high transverse momenta and enables the study of jet quenching and partonic energy loss in dense matter. |
