Abstract:prototype package which implements an Elastic Tracking (ET) algorithm is being developed in a fully Object-Oriented framework using C++ as the programming language. This package has capabilities to work on both pre-processed reconstructed hits, or on raw charge distributions that are measured by a detector. It is also being developed with the intent of being able to handle multiple detectors that should remove the need for inter-detector matching of track segments. Although benchmarks on simulated data confirm that the ET method does incur a significant time penalty compared to that of conventional road finders, the time required is strongly dependent on the spatial resolution of the points. The track-finding efficiency remains remarkably high and constant nearly independent of event multiplicity and hit density. The behavior of the ET package will be discussed along with its structure and performance characteristics. Identifiable bottlenecks will be highlighted as well as future plans.
