Abstract | : | Electron-hadron discrimination is studied with experimental data obtained in a 1998 test beam run and in simulations of the Electromagnetic Calorimeter (EMC) including the pre-shower detector (PSD) and shower-maximum detector (SMD) elements. The emphasis of the study is to provide better estimates of the ability of this combination of detectors to provide electron identification in the lower energy region (0.5 GeV to 5.0 GeV) which will be important in the study of J/psi and perhaps Phi -> e+/e- at low P_T. |
