Are the BTOW and BSMD data from the same event in run9?
Prodded by Jan (who was in turn prodded by Gerard I believe) I wanted to look at the produced L2-W data to see if the BTOW data and the BSMD data in a given event are actually from the same event. Basically it looks like the BTOW data and the BSMD data are from the same event and that there doesn't seem to be a problem. The analysis and plots are below.
To test this, I looked the distribution of the highest BSMD adc value underneath a given high ET BTOW cluster within a given geometric range. More explicitly, I found the log-weighted center of gravity of the BTOW cluster and then found the strip in both the BSMDE and BSMDP that "contained" that eta, phi. I scanned in [-5,+5]x[-1,+1] around the "center strip" in (eta, phi) for the BSMDE and similarly in [-1,+1]x[-5,+5] for the BSMDP. The highest adc of that search was then plotted. The distribution of this highadc value for the BSMDE and BSMDP are plotted below.
Another check was that the BSMD data at other locations was essentially absent (zero in the case of my algorithm), so-called ghosts. For each plane I then plotted 4 different strips around each "center strip" at [cent_eta+40,cent_phi], [cent_eta-40,cent_phi], [cent_eta,cent_phi+7], and [cent_eta,cent_phi-7]. And then for the BSMDP plane I again plotted 4 different strips for the BSMDP at [cent_eta-5,cent_phi], [cent_eta+5,cent_phi], [cent_eta,cent_phi-40], [cent_eta,cent_phi+40]. The distributions of those adcs are plotted below.
