What's left to be done before a W/Z Cross Section Paper

This drupal page outlines a number of things that need to be done or decided on before we publish the W/Z cross sections.

  1. Write an analysis note
  2. Simulations
    1. Do we want/need embedded simulations?
    2. Do we want/need a new set of simulations?
    3. Known problems with current MC sample:
      1. PPV ignores EEMC
      2. Timestamps for TPC dead padrows don't match data
      3. Beam line offset is wrong for vertex reco (primary tracks slightly mis-reconstructed)
      4. Tracking efficiency at mid-rapidity doesn't match data (dominant systematic error)
  3. Production
    1. This is reliant on the calibrations question at some level, but do we want a new production of the data? It does only take a day.
  4. Calibrations
    1. TPC - Do we want a new round of SC&GL? I don't think its necessary (Gene, your thoughts?)
    2. BTOW - Need to finalize calibration (and then get energy scale unc.)
    3. ETOW - What is our energy scale uncertainty? How does it feed into the analysis?
  5. Luminosity
    1. Cross check from ZDC (is it possible?)
    2. Can we reduce the uncertainty?
  6. Finalize algorithm
    1. Change to SpT-balance (from pT-balance and awayside pT veto)
    2. Finalize the Z algorithm as well
    3. Anything else?
  7. Finalize background subtraction
    1. Do we want to keep the 2d variation for the background shapes or only use the SpT-balance variation?
    2. Do we want to do any further physics subtraction with our background cocktail (i.e. Z's from QCD background shape)
