This is the next blog entry in the series of investigations into the differences in reconstructed high pT tracks between SL09g and SL10j. In the previous blog entry (blog) we found that there was a drop in the number of reconstructed high pT tracks between SL10f and SL10g and that drop was caused by a single line of code in StRoot/Sti/StiNodePars.h. This blog completes the circle by comparing the output between SL09 and SL10j including and not including that one line of code. The output compiled below is from running 300 events in a single file (different from the file in the 2nd blog entry in this series). Shown below is the list of high pT (pT > 20) primary tracks and the number of reconstructed global tracks.
Again you can see that this line of code explains the drop in the number of reconstructed high pT tracks from SL09g to SL10j. Also output both the new and old timestamps (the different productions used different ones) are shown. There are a number of other software differences between SL09 and SL10j, but this one line is thought to be the major source of the loss. The other changes will be discussed in another blog.
