Example of setting the input file: StBFChain::ProcessLine ((StVMCMaker *) 0xaeab6f0)->SetInputFile("/star/simu/simu/gstardata/evgenRoot/evgen.3.root");

In general, StBFChain sets various attributes of the makers.
