Tracking Efficiency Uncertainty
17.11.2020, The charges to the task force
- Conduct systematic studies on the TPC single track efficiency uncertainty on a few standard datasets, e.g. AuAu200, BES, pp200 or 500 GeV etc. It will be preferred that the uncertainty can be evaluated more differentially in pT, eta/y, luminosity etc when statistics allows.
- Investigate on any possible improvement in the TPC simulator to improve the efficiency uncertainty, especially for the BES-II datasets.
- Expect a report from the task force (to be released as a STAR note) The report should include the above studies, as well as a description on standard procedures to evaluate the tracking efficiency uncertainty for other datasets.
- Timeline: about 6 months - 1 year. If the full efforts are expected to take longer than this, we expect a preliminary report focusing on the findings from 1) to be released in about 6 months.

Starting analysis of cosmics data:
Gene pointed out that TOF corrections are turned off for cosmics since it is not know the real direction of the track.
Based on discussion the promissing data sets to look into are run16 and run19.
There was previously an analysis in which it was tried to matched together the two tracks from the same particle. Yuri will try to find the codes.
K-3pi:
Yuri tested the code for propagation of the fit parameters from primary vertex to the first point. It seem that he geometry parameters are fine however the covariance matrix not. This will affect the efficiency of finding the decay vertexes. Needs to be tested.

GMT- Solved problem with crashing code. The problem was not in the part related to the GMT - As I understand handling of floating exceptions was changed in the tracking code.
Petr: When running MC filtering it was found that the geant is run accdently twice for each event. It was confirmed by Yuri that this is not wanted. The bug was reported to S&C.
