SsdEmbedding Maker

03/01 :
add protection in StSsdEmbeddingMaker for when no ssdhit table is found.
And in St_spa_Maker because then no sls_strip from StssdEmbeddingMaker is produced.

EEmc Gammas via conversion method, improving hadronic veto

Endcap Tower + SMD + Track cuts for photon identification.

As promised, here is a first-pass set of cuts utilizing track information, and attempting to make more use of the SMD than the previous suite of cuts.

Comparison with Cross Sections

Abstract:  We cross check prompt-photon yields against "known" cross sections, based on pythia expectations.  The extracted yields are found to be within a factor of two

Tower + SMD cuts for photon identification

This is still a work in progress, and more importantly, the pdf included here is not terribly useful without the comments that follow.

EEmc Gammas via conversion method, relaxing the hadronic veto cut

EEmc Gammas via conversion method, relaxing the hadronic veto cut

Abstract:  Based on a quick MC study I decided to try relaxing the hadronic veto cut (i.e. Epost(R<0.3) < 0.2 MeV) in order to try recovering statistics. However, the results indicate a problem with doing this.  Specifically the  yield extraction fails and fails badly -- many more gammas "found" than the total yield input into the algo.  We investigate this by releasing the hadronic veto cut and examining the resulting transverse shower-shape quantities.   We then develop  new cuts to replace the hadronic veto.

EEmc Gammas via conversion method, losses due to cuts

EEmc Gammas via conversion method, losses due to cuts

Abstract:  We investigate losses in a single-photon MC event sample due to cuts applied in the conversion method.  We find that most of the (potentially recoverable) losses are due to the "hadronic veto" cut using the postshower detector.

EEmc Gammas via conversion method, systematics

EEmc Gammas via conversion method, systematics

Abstract: We investigate the systematic uncertainties associated with the conversion method.  Specifically, does the Monte Carlo indicate that the efficiency for passing the preshower-2 cut depends significantly on either pT or eta?
