Effect of beam dump through a 1% interaction length target placed at z=-2m

Abstract -- There is a proposal to place a 1% interaction length Au target in the beam pipe at z=-2m.  A concern was raised w/respect to this proposal about the radiation damage on inner detectors should the beam accidently dump through the Au target.  In this study we generate minbias HIJING events (HIJING 3.82), and calculate the radiation dosage in the HFT should this beam dump event occur.

amplitude vs adc

Here I show the sum of time bin ADCs vs the amplitude fit paramater for each apv on disc 6 quad 1.

strip-by-strip fit parameter distributions

I'm looking at strip-by-strip fit parameter distributions for the P-layer.  I looked at 8 strips with the highest counts in disc 6 quad 1 apv 14.  In each figure, the plot on the top-left

timebin fits for residuals

I tried to use timebin fits to get to the residuals.

In short, it didn't improve things.

The first issue is the stability of the fiits for low amplitudes.

It was pointed out to me that I labeled the figures in terms of θjet. This is a mistake.

It was suggested to try weighting the Pythia sample in order to have it match the vertex distribution.

Three particle correlations

Jim Thomas and I have analyzed various three particle correlations of the form cos(n*phi_i + m*phi_j - (n+m)*phi_k). We intend to publish the results ASAP.
