HOWTO: Perform basic sanity checks on pythia in starsim

Pythia contains a subroutine PYTEST, which is a fully-functional pythia program.

HOWTO: Check for overlaps / extrusions in a geometry using TGeoChecker

Root's TGeoChecker class provides some useful functions to check for errors in geometries.

   Time:  11 AM - 12 PM EDT

 * --===================================================================--*

     Agenda:

     1) Run10 preparation: Bill
     2) LPV news release discussion - Draft(V3).doc and comments from Jack: Jack_message.pdf; Jack_release.doc
     3) STC candidates and LFSpectra PWG co-convener candidate - Nu
     4) Publication policy - Jerome

           *--====================================================================--*

     Brief Summary:

      0) Attendency: Olga, Flemming, Jerome, Jamie, Nu, Bill, Helen

      1) Run10 status: STAR is progressing smoothly. By Saturday, TPC laser will be ready; Magnet on over the weekend.

Run10 trigger: data volume for 62 GeV // PMD data:

CAD: beam in Blue. Thursday evening, beam will be in Yellow.

      2) LPV news release: make a merged version and send it to Steve et al.

      3) Publication policy seems not work at the moment. Should modify the policy?

PWG: ?         Council representative at each group?         Policy amendment?

Nu: (i) Ask STC chair to cc the nomination to each council representative; (ii) encourage PWG co-conveners

pay more attention on talks; (iii) Bedanga summarize the responsibilities at each stage of a STAR talk, start

               tracking.

      Notes:

   1) STAR TPC Review (key= star2009),  June 4,5, BNL. Ron Settler (chair). Review report.

   2) NPE Committee, H. Huang (chair)

   3) STAR TOF Close Out Review, Aug. 10-11. Review report and The Plan.

   4) STAR FMS Review agenda, Sept. 1-2, BNL, P. Jacobs (chair). Review report

                5) Charge for New Decadal Plan, Steve Vigdor, Dec. 17, 2009

               Future Meetings and Reviews:

    1) STAR Analysis Meeting, Jan. 12-16, 2010, Department of Physics, UT Austin

    2) APS April meeting, Feb. 13-17, 2010, Washongton DC.

Weight analysis of the new TPC geometry

Using the TGeoVolume::Weight() method, examine the mass of the main TPC volume and the sub volumes.

Diffraction Dissociation as a Source of STAR ZDC and BBC Spin Asymmetries

Geometry Differential: y2006g vs y2006h

Material balance in y2006g (old model of the TPC), averaged over 30 degrees in phi.  Daughter volumes one level below the mother volume are displayed.

Z sample invariant mass

At Matt Walker's request, I re-ran the code that computes the Z invariant mass from the 500GeV L2W data, using 'ofl' gains instead of 'sim' that had been used before.

SC and GL TPC Calibration pp200 2009

For graduate students performing the Space Charge and Grid Leak calibration for future runs, you will find a how-to-guide in the attached pdf file.

Comparison of Victor's AgSTAR TPC geometry and Yuri's Root/TGeo TPC geometry

Abstract: I compare the AgSTAR version of the latest TPC geometry to the Root/TGeo version of the TPC geometry, on which it was based.

Geometry Differential Framework [third test, material balance for TPCe04]

Abstract: To further test the prototype geometry differential framework, it is useful to examine the latest version of the TPC geometry using Yuri's ROOT/TGeo/VMC implementation.
